  1. I think the postive and negative space is used to demonstrate that art can be created with simply a few shades of black and white and how it can be used to form shapes and objects giving it a feel of depth and curiousity epescially when the image is extremely difficult to understand.

  3. Firstly a shape is defined by a space. Any space that a shape defines is known as a negative space.Negative space and positive space can be used to create numerous illusions and art. These arts that uses the positive shapes to define the negative space are rather interesting as they give off two different dimensions in a single drawing or painting. This technique is used in fine arts. M.C. Escher is a great example as Jerome mentioned. He creates wonderful drawing that immediately catches the eye and gives so many different perspectives and the way he uses one shape to define a space and a space to define a shape is extremely genius. If there is a bowl, the negative space would be inside the bowl while the bowl itself is the positive shape/object.

  4. Form and shape are areas or masses which define objects in space. they cannot exist without space.Positive space refers to the shapes of objects. Negative space refers to the shapes around objects. It can be very helpful to develop drawing skills by focusing on the negative, rather than the positive space. By drawing negative space, it is not possible to identify with the objects which are associated with positive space.

  5. Shape is defined by space. Therefore, whatever object or shape that is created, there will be space within or around the shape. This then becomes a Negative Space. On the other hand, the negative space created by a shape can be used to form a positive space.

  6. Additionally, these shapes and space define an image or form based on how they are used.

  8. shape defines the space.Shapes cannot exist without space.positive and negative space define the shape.Positive space is the "occupied" areas in a work of art that is filled with something such as, lines, colors and shapes while Negative space is the unoccupied areas that surround the subject matter. Artist like M.C Escher use the illusion of positive and negative pace to create art work

  9. A space needs a shape so it can be defined, a space without a shape is nothing. Positive space refers to the shapes of objects. Negative space refers to the shapes around objects.By drawing negative space, it is not possible to identify with the objects which are associated with positive space.

  10. shapes are areas or masses which define objects in space, which indeed means that shapes can not exist without space.A prime example of use and shape and space is the gestalt principle figure and ground(Gestalt is a psychology term which means "unified whole",It refers to theories of visual perception) this principle use shape and space to create unique designs which uses also uses the positive and negative space to create illusions so if u look at the image from positive space you see one figure but from a negative space you she a total different figure which is the work of manipulating of negative and positive space which point you to one shape and can throw you into another. Shape and space is utilized in fine art is use to create a sense of continuation which makes the art a unified whole
